We offer three spaces for events of all kinds from workshops and meetings to private celebrations.

Rental rates vary by space and duration with both hourly and full-day options. Discounts are available for nonprofits and community groups.

    If you are interested in using any chairs or tables please notify us when filling out the inquiry form.

    We cannot set up for your event, you are permitted 15 free minutes of set up & 15 free minutes of take down. If you need any more time please take that into account when filling out the inquiry form.

  • In order to confirm your room reservation we will need…

    • a signed contract - which will be sent out once we can confirm we have availability for your event.

    • full payment for the room rental - which can either be paid via card, cash, or check.

    • a certificate of insurance (COI) - instructions are provided on how to obtain the COI on our website.

    …once we have received all necessary documentation we will sent you a confirmation email!

Insurance Instructions


Each group must obtain and submit a certificate of insurance (COI) with the YWCA Berkeley/Oakland  listed as an additional insured. The certificate must be sent to YWCA at least 5 business days before the  rental. General liability limit of $2 million per occurrence.  

To obtain required Certificates of Insurance for: 

  • Apply for insurance at least 10 days in advance, student groups are responsible for paying for insurance for off campus event. A low-risk event, such as a meeting, reception or a luncheon will cost around $125.

    • Contact Risk Services

    • Email a copy of the completed Rental Application to risk@berkeley.edu

  • Request from your own insurance company

  • There are many event insurance carriers available online. Submit your information and  print the certificate right away. A low-risk event, such as a meeting, reception or a  luncheon will cost around $150.

 FAQs

Q/ How long can we rent a room for? 

A/ You can rent a room for as long as you need from 9:00 am-10:00 pm (we may be able to accommodate an earlier time if needed). We also have half day and full day discounts depending on your budget.

Q/ Are tables and chairs provided? 

A/ Yes, tables and chairs are provided for your event. If you are renting any of the lounges, a table that sits around 8 people is already provided in your rental. In any case that you need more, you will have to email us one week in advance. Note: We may not be able to provide additional tables and chairs the DAY OF, if you do not let us know before your event. The sizes of our tables are as follows: 6’x3’ rectangular, 4’x 1 1/2’ tiny, 3’x3’ square, 5’x 1 1/2’, and 5’x 2 1/2’.

Q/ Where are the restrooms located? 

A/ Restrooms are located on the main floor in the back hallway of the premises. 


Q/ Does the YWCA provide parking? 

A/ The YWCA does not provide parking, but there are street parking spaces. The private garage underneath the building is NOT available to use. 


Q/ Can I use other premises in the building during my reservation time? 

A/ You may NOT use other rooms, hallway, lobby, kitchenette, and reception area of the building during your reservation time, but may use restrooms. 

Q/ Do I have to provide a Certificate of Insurance? 

A/ YWCA does not maintain insurance covering loss or damage of Renter’s property; therefore, a Certificate of Insurance is required from all renters. Any individual or group using YWCA facilities assumes all responsibility for injury, death to any person and/or loss or damage to property. 

Q/ How can I obtain a certificate of insurance If I am a student? 

A/ If you are part of a student organization at UC Berkeley, the university provides insurance instructions on this site for on/off campus events. 


Q/ What rules do we need to follow when we rent a room? 

A/ Renters must follow safety protocol and everyone must leave the YWCA building by the end of the reservation period, or you may be charged additional fees. No illegal drugs are allowed on the Premises. No smoking of any substance is allowed inside/or in front of the building. If the hours of the rental are modified (starting earlier or ending later than the times stated in the Agreement), you will be charged for the additional time.
